When Dentures Alone
Aren't Enough
Traditional dentures rely on suction and gum contour for retention — and as bone resorbs over time, they loosen. Implant-supported dentures solve this by anchoring the denture to 2–6 titanium implants placed in the jaw. The result is a denture that clicks securely into place, doesn't move during eating or speaking, and preserves the jawbone by providing the stimulation it needs — exactly like natural tooth roots.
At Edgemont Dental, we offer three implant denture solutions to suit different budgets and clinical situations:
- Snap-on Overdentures — Removable, snaps onto implants for easy cleaning
- Fixed Implant Bridge — Non-removable, cleaned like natural teeth
- All-on-4® — Four implants support a full arch, often placed in a single visit
Why Patients Choose
Implant Retention
No Slipping
Snaps or screws onto implants — completely stable while eating, speaking, and laughing. No adhesives, no movement, no embarrassing moments.
Bone Preservation
Implants stimulate the jawbone, preventing the bone loss that causes facial sagging. Traditional dentures accelerate this process; implants halt it.
Eat Anything
With implant stability, most patients can eat the full range of foods they avoided with traditional dentures — from steak to apples.
Long-Term Investment
Well-maintained implants can last a lifetime — the most durable tooth replacement solution available. The denture itself can be updated as needed.
Your Journey to a
Secure Smile
01
Consultation & 3D Imaging
Bone density and jaw structure assessed using cone beam CT. We determine how many implants you need, where to place them, and which denture system suits you best.
02
Implant Placement
Titanium posts placed surgically under local anaesthetic. Most patients are surprised by how manageable the procedure is. A healing period of 3–6 months follows.
03
Denture Fabrication
While your implants integrate with the bone, your custom denture is designed and fabricated to precise specifications — matched to your facial features and preferences.
04
Attachment
Implants are fitted with abutments and your denture snaps or screws securely into place. Walk out with a fully functional, stable smile the same day.
Common Questions
How many implants do I need for a full denture?
Typically 2–4 implants for a snap-on overdenture, or 4–6 for a fully fixed arch. The All-on-4® technique uses exactly 4 implants per arch, strategically angled to maximise contact with available bone — making it suitable for patients with some bone loss.
Is the surgery painful?
The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic, so you feel pressure but no pain during placement. Most patients experience surprisingly little discomfort afterwards — mild soreness for a few days, manageable with over-the-counter medication. Sedation is available for patients who prefer it.
How much do implant-supported dentures cost?
More than conventional dentures, but far more economical than replacing each tooth individually with single implants. The long-term value is significant — no ongoing adhesive costs, preserved bone structure, and a lifespan measured in decades. We provide a detailed treatment plan with transparent costs and are happy to discuss payment options.
