Permanent Teeth
That Last a Lifetime

The gold standard in tooth replacement — a titanium root and porcelain crown that look, feel, and function like your natural teeth.

What Are Implants?

More Than a
Replacement Tooth

A dental implant is a small titanium post that is surgically placed into the jawbone, acting as an artificial root. Over time, it fuses permanently with your bone — creating a stable, lifelong foundation for a natural-looking crown.

Unlike bridges that rely on adjacent teeth, or dentures that can shift and slip, implants are completely self-supporting. They're the closest thing dentistry has to growing a new tooth.

At Edgemont Dental, we offer single implants, multiple implants, and implant-supported dentures for patients who have lost all or most of their teeth. Our team is happy to discuss payment options with you.

Why Implants?

The Implant Advantage

Looks & Feels Natural

A dental implant is the closest thing to a natural tooth. It looks, feels, and functions just like the real thing — no slipping, no clicking, no diet restrictions.

Prevents Bone Loss

When a tooth is lost, the jawbone begins to resorb. Implants stimulate the bone just like a natural root, preserving your jaw structure and facial shape.

No Removal Required

Unlike dentures, implants are permanently fixed in your mouth. Brush and floss them exactly like your natural teeth — no adhesives, no soaking overnight.

Lifetime Investment

With proper care, a dental implant can last a lifetime. The titanium root is biocompatible and integrates permanently with your bone.

Every Stage, One Team

From Consultation
to Crown, With You

Replacing a tooth with an implant is a multi-year relationship, not a single appointment. Patients from across Southwest Edmonton choose Edgemont Dental because we handle every stage in-house, from the initial assessment through placement and the final crown, with the same team overseeing your case start to finish.

Dr. Scott Kershaw plans every implant case with the same attention to detail you'd want from a neighbour who happens to be your dentist. That means realistic timelines and honest cost breakdowns, so the decision comes down to your health, not your budget.

The Process

Your Implant Journey

01

Consultation & Imaging

We assess your bone density and jaw structure using 3D cone beam CT imaging to confirm you're a candidate and plan precise implant placement.

02

Implant Placement

The titanium implant is placed into the jawbone under local anaesthetic (or sedation if preferred). Most patients are surprised by how comfortable the procedure is.

03

Osseointegration

Over 3–6 months, your implant fuses with the jawbone in a process called osseointegration. This creates a permanent, incredibly stable foundation.

04

Crown Placement

Once healed, a custom-crafted porcelain crown is attached to the implant — perfectly matched to your natural teeth in shape and colour.

FAQ

Common Questions

Am I a candidate for dental implants?

Most adults in good general health with adequate jawbone density are candidates. We use 3D CT imaging to assess your specific bone structure. Even patients who have experienced some bone loss may qualify after a bone grafting procedure — we'll discuss all your options.

How much do dental implants cost?

The cost varies depending on the number of implants and any preparatory procedures needed. We provide a transparent, itemised treatment plan before anything begins. Our team is happy to discuss payment options with you — we believe cost shouldn't be a barrier to this life-changing treatment.

Does the implant procedure hurt?

Most patients are pleasantly surprised. The area is thoroughly numbed with local anaesthetic before placement. Some mild soreness for a day or two is normal, manageable with over-the-counter pain relief. Sedation options are also available for anxious patients.
