Why Regular Visits
Matter So Much
Most dental problems are silent in their early stages — decay doesn't hurt until it's deep, and gum disease advances without obvious symptoms. A routine check-up every six months is how we stay ahead of those problems before they become painful, complex, or expensive.
Professional cleanings remove the calcified tartar that your toothbrush simply cannot reach — especially in the pockets between your teeth and below the gumline. Digital x-rays let us detect cavities between teeth and bone changes around roots that are invisible to the naked eye. And every exam includes a quick oral cancer screening at no extra charge.

Four Reasons to
Never Skip a Visit
Early Detection
Catching decay before it hurts saves money and tooth structure. A small filling today prevents a root canal — or an extraction — tomorrow.
Plaque & Tartar Removal
Even perfect brushers get tartar buildup in hard-to-reach spots. Only a professional hygienist can safely remove calcified deposits below the gumline.
Cancer Screening
Oral cancer screening is included in every exam — a quick visual and manual check that can genuinely save your life.
Gum Health
Regular monitoring catches the earliest signs of gingivitis and periodontitis before irreversible bone loss occurs — reversing gum disease is far easier at stage one.

Prevention Is
Personal Here
A six-month check-up sounds routine until you think about what it actually catches: the small cavity before it becomes a root canal, the early sign of gum recession, the wear pattern that explains a headache you'd stopped mentioning.
Our hygienists get to know your mouth over years of visits, not just the fifteen minutes in the chair. That familiarity is why so many Southwest Edmonton families have kept the same appointment slot, and the same face, for a decade or more.
What Happens
At Your Visit

We update your health record, current medications, and any concerns before anything begins. Changes in your overall health can directly affect your oral health.

Comprehensive Exam
Full assessment of teeth, gums, bite alignment, and soft tissues using digital x-rays and intraoral cameras. We check every surface — not just what's visible.
03
Professional Cleaning
Scaling to remove hardened tartar, followed by polishing to clear surface stains and leave teeth smooth so plaque has less to cling to going forward.
04
Personalized Report
We walk you through every finding clearly — what we saw, what it means, and exactly what to do next. No surprises, no pressure, just honest information.
Common Questions
How often do I need a check-up?
Every 6 months for most adults. Patients with active gum disease, a high cavity rate, dry mouth, or other risk factors often benefit from visits every 3–4 months. We'll recommend the right interval for your specific situation at your first appointment.
What if I haven't been in years?
No judgment — we start fresh with a thorough exam and clean. Some patients who've been away for a while have tartar buildup that requires a deeper cleaning first (scaling and root planing). We'll tell you exactly what's needed and why before we begin.
Is the cleaning painful?
Not for most patients. Mild sensitivity during scaling is normal, especially around the gumline. If you have particularly sensitive gums we can apply a topical anaesthetic before we start — just let us know. We work at your pace.
